By Romesh MadusankaTwo hardcore women LTTE cadres including a suicide cadre were arrested and their suicide jackets and a stock of explosives during a raid by the Vavuniya District Crime Investigation Unit, police said.

However one of them committed suicide by swallowing a cyanide capsule soon after she was arrested.

A police team led by Vavuniya District Crime Investigation Unit OIC Nalaka Gunasekara arrested the suspects who were hiding in the home of a LTTE pistol gang leader at Ukkulankulam.

Police recovered three suicide jackets, six kgs of explosives, and 10 detonators buried in the shrub jungle behind a church in Ukkulankulam.
